Floor Finishes can be damaged by excess moisture in floor slabs. Products have been developed to mitigate the moisture in concrete. The moisture coming from the concrete floor slabs come up to the surface damaging epoxy, linoleum or VCT or other finish already on the concrete slab.
The surface is prepped and a vapor-retarding coating is applied. Permeability measures the degree that moisture vapor can pass through the coating. This permeability has to be less than the overlying flooring so the vapor will not be trapped below the flooring.
